Air to Air Refuelling Tankers

This series of MOCs are a range of air to air refueling tankers used by various western air forces. There are colour limitations with the Lego range due to their policy of not releasing set that are remotely related to war machines or weapons. There are also limitations on the shape of the nose/cockpit section of the fuselage. These builds are as good as I can get without trying to sculpt shapes with plates & bricks. I think it's important to get the basic features right where it can be done.

Boeing KC-135 Stratotanker

The first variant is the long serving Boeing 707 variant, the KC-135 Stratotanker. The build includes the tail mounted refueling boom, rear passenger door & forward cargo door. The obvious donor set would be the 2006 7893-1 Passenger Airplane.

The rear wheel assembly is fully custom design that I felt was neccessary. This assembly is common for all of my tanker aircraft. The assembly is available separately on Bricklink & Rebrickable.

The cockpit is a fully custom build as well. The cockpit arrangement is available separately on Bricklink & Rebrickable

McDonald Douglas KC-10 Extender.

The next tanker is the long serving KC-10. The KC-10 is based on the DC-10. The MOC shares most of the KC-135 build features. The main differences are in the engine configuration. The KC-10 does have a few windows along the side.

Boeing KC-46 Pegasus.

The Boeing KC-46 Pegasus is the replacement for the KC-10. The KC-46 (called KC-767 during development) is based on the Boeing 767 comercial jet. The MOC shares most of the KC-135 build features. The main differences are in the engine configuration & the wing mounted refueling pods. The KC-46 also has a few windows along the side.

I'll add to this post as I release more similar aircraft such as the Airbus KC-30A-MRTT.
