This is the very first custom modification I have done for my son. It is an upgrade to the Lego official set 60072-1 Demolition starter set. I call it the "Bobcat with arms". The original set was limited by the tilt mechanism which won't allow any lift for scooping rubble into a bin or tip truck etc. (60072-1 below). Little wonder that the Minifig looks frustrated! The mechanism of the arms has been adapted from the small digger of the 2012 4201 - Loader & Tipper set.
With the addition of a small number of parts (see below), the range of movement of the bucket is massively improved.
This design has been modeled in the Studio designer program and uploaded to Rebrickable for anyone to view or download.
